About Me

The Smiling Skeptic (formerly known as The Smiling Atheist), C. Allen Thompson, has been making waves in the philosophical community for some time.  In fact, from his college dissertation, attempting to link conspiracy theorists with theists on a neurological level, to most recently publishing his non-fiction piece Crusade: The Unchecked and Unbalanced Role of Faith in America.  He also authors The Minneapolis Science Examiner and is the founder of Prophase State, which is a news and education blog and website aimed at biology.

His favorite television shows include: Arrested Development, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Family Guy, Through the Wormhole, The Simpsons, The Office, Seinfeld, Third Rock from the Sun, House, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Futurama, The Critic, ATHF, Robot Chicken, Home Movies, Death Note, Metalocolypse, and more...

His favorite books are, but not in this order: Good without God, The God Delusion, Genome, Spook, Stiff, The Heroin Diaries, Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way, God is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything, American Fascists, Day by Day Armageddon, Darwin's Dangerous Idea, Genome, Stiff, The Ancestor's Tale, The Elegant Universe, The Amazing History of Quantum Mechanics, Why People Believe Weird Things, When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops, Nature's Blueprint, World War Z, Love is a Mixed Tape, New Rules with Bill Maher, and Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them.

His favorite things in life are his fiancee, his computer, and Oxford commas.

Don't let his good looks fool you.  C. Allen Thompson is a graduate of the Medical Institute of Minnesota where he majored in Psychology and minored in Sociology.  He is also a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Evolutionary Biology.  He is currently working on his masters in the particular subject as well.

He enjoys making a laughing matter of religion with a slew of comical, satirical characters from the relentlessly right-wing Dr. Minister Josiah Phibes, to the inbred, country demonologist, aptly named Bread the Demonologist.

He is currently a freelance writer in the Minneapolis area.  He is also a regular guest on many radio shows including Common Sense with Jim Alger and others.

C. Allen Thompson is a former co-host of Jackalope 105 FM's ReapSowRadio and Unchecked and Unbalanced: The Return of Gonzo Politics.

He will also celebrate his three-year anniversary on September 11, 2011 with the love of his life, Nicole.  And he will be turning 30 on November 6, 2011, and has informed me to let you know that he's registered at thinkgeek.com
